Model of tourism combined with garden experience

Born in the purely agricultural family, since childhood, he has been attached to the field and garden, Mr. Ly Van So (below photo) in Ban Pho 2 village, Ban Pho commune (Bac Ha district) did not think that one day he would fall in love with tourism business. Although they are young, he and his wife have built fairly large community tourism model called "So Hmong". The homestay model of Mr. So's family is considered to be very promising in Ban Pho. When there was no Covid-19 pandemic, the homestay was chosen by many tourists to stay when coming to Bac Ha.
So Hmong - ready to welcome visitors

In the past, the family's economy depended on fields and gardens, life was difficult, Mr. So had been away from home to work many jobs, such as restaurant staff, hotel service... Realizing the demand for relaxation, the experience of tourists for Bac Ha is increasing, given the available conditions, in 2018, he boldly renovated his home garden, planted fruit trees in association with community tourism business.

Having available large garden, he borrowed for bank loan, invested more than 500 million VND to build stilt houses, repair the garden to welcome tourists to the resort, and combine the experience of watching trees and picking fruits. Until now, he has satisfactory tourism model with the capacity of serving about 30 guests at the same time.

Around the stilt house, Mr. So planted about 200 fruit trees of all kinds. Having clean fruits all year round, guests coming to the resort can pick and enjoy themselves is one of the plus points of So Hmong homestay. Especially, since 2015, when many households in Bac Ha mainly grow plums and peaches, Mr. So boldly brought 50 queen guava trees to plant. This is the seedless guava variety with high productivity, the average selling price is 60,000 VND/kg. Queen guava for fruit harvesting is from August to December (ripe after plum season). Therefore, every season his family's garden has clean fruit. Every year, from harvesting guava, Mr. So earns about 30 million VND.

With large garden area, he also designed space for visitors to have outdoor barbecues and playgrounds for children. He and his wife grow vegetables for their guests and always have 20-30 chickens available to meet the demand of visitors.

While the model is operating stably and attracting many tourists, So Hmong and other homestays have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with the thought of maintaining, considering this is the time to renovate the garden and design the homestay, Mr. So has invested in taking care of gardens and pets, waiting for the day the Covid-19 pandemic is under control, ready to welcome guests to the resort. Mr. So said: The encouragement of family and relatives is the motivation for me to try, in addition to the love for the land of Bac Ha and the desire to introduce to visitors the beauty of the homeland.

Now, Mr. So is confident with the services in his tourism business model, ready to welcome back the return of tourists.
