Established in 2002, Hoang Lien National Park is ranked A by the Global Environment Fund (the highest level in terms of biodiversity value of Vietnam) and recognized by the ASEAN Biodiversity Conservation Organization as ASEAN Heritage Park in 2003.

With an altitude of 1,000 - 3,000 m above sea level, Hoang Lien National Park has many high peaks, the highest of which is Fansipan peak, which is likened to the "Roof of Indochina". It has beautiful primeval forests with diverse and rich vegetation, flora and fauna; together with the community of indigenous peoples living in the buffer zone, the core zone of the park still retains many unique cultural features… All these factors help Hoang Lien National Park have the opportunity to develop many types of forms of tourism, such as conquering the peak, exploring, adventure tourism, ecotourism, scientific research, educational tourism, resort…  

Surveying tours, new routes in Hoang Lien National Park

For many years, tourism products, such as mountain climbing tour to conquer Fansipan peak, route to visit Golden stream - Love waterfall; scientific research tourism, environmental education ... have been put into operation by the Park, attracting domestic and international tourists to visit and experience.

Mr.Pham Minh Duc, Deputy Director of the Center for Environmental Education and Environmental Services Hoang Lien said: In 2019, more than 60,000 tourists came to visit and experience tours and tourist routes in the Hoang Lien National Park (excluding points exploited by outside units), the revenue is estimated at over 4 billion VND. With each visitor, Hoang Lien National Park earns about 77,000 VND, a modest figure compared to its potential. After more than 2 years of being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of tourists returning to Hoang Lien National Park is quite stable.

Evaluating the effectiveness of tours and tourist routes at Hoang Lien National Park, Mr. Le Minh Duc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viettrekking Tourism Service Joint Stock Company, said: The tours and tourist routes of the Park are quite rich, bringing new choices for tourists. The tours are very diverse for tourists to choose according to their personal interests and time. In tours and attractions in Sa Pa town, Hoang Lien National Park is always one of the indispensable destinations of many tourists. This is also the place chosen by Viettrekking to organize conquest tours, including Fansipan peak...

With the determination to exploit green and sustainable tourism, Hoang Lien National Park has collaborated with the Center for Forest Resources and Environment - Institute of Forest Investigation and Planning to develop the project "Eco, resort, entertainment tourism in Hoang Lien National Park for the period of 2020 - 2030, vision to 2050". Thereby, ensuring the exploitation of reasonable natural potential for service business, eco-tourism, convalescence, entertainment and environmental education; developing tourism associated with sustainable management of the values of the ASEAN Heritage Park.

In the next period, Hoang Lien National Park will develop eco-tourism in different ways to maximize conservation benefits and minimize negative impacts, with little impact on the natural environment. In which, the unit directly organizes tourism service business activities; joint venture, associate with partners and lease forest environment for investors to do business in eco-tourism, resort and entertainment activities... Mr. Hoang Van Dan, Deputy Director of Fansipan Cable Tourism Service Company Limited (the unit that rents the forest environment of Hoang Lien National Park for tourism business) said that: It is appropriate to develop tourism based on the exploitation of local natural and cultural resources with the trend of green and sustainable tourism.

Talking about the tourism development strategy, Mr. Nguyen Duy Thinh, Deputy Director of Hoang Lien National Park affirmed: The development of tourism in Hoang Lien National Park will be based on the ecological environment, associated with nature on the basis of biodiversity conservation and forest environmental protection. All tourism products of the Park will be upgraded, refreshed and developed based on these criteria.
