Carrying out "double duty", facilitating the export of fresh lychees

This year, Lao Cai province's functional departments continue to create the most favorable conditions for the export of agricultural products in general and fresh lychees in particular to the Chinese market, while strictly complying with regulations on prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

From the beginning of May, trucks carrying fresh lychees from Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces went to the Kim Thanh II International Border Gate for export to China. Specifically, at Km137, Noi Bai - Lao Cai highway, all drivers and people present on the vehicle transporting fresh lychees must make a medical declaration, have their body temperature checked, and quickly check for Covid-19 antibodies. When there are no signs or symptoms of Covid-19 infection, drivers and people sitting on fresh cloth vehicles continue to be moved to the Kim Thanh Exhibition and Convention Center area, Lao Cai city.

Mr. Luong Dinh Huan, Director of Lao Cai International Health Quarantine Center said: We closely coordinate with related industries to strictly implement the prevention and control of Covid-19, especially with drivers and people in vehicles from pandemic areas to Lao Cai province. Specifically, the staff of the Lao Cai International Health Quarantine Center sprayed and disinfected the vehicle and asked the driver and the occupants of the vehicle to go to a separate and managed accommodation area. rigid. Next, the Chinese transit driver will take the fresh lychee truck through the International Road Border Gate No. II Kim Thanh. After completing the export of goods, the Chinese driver handed over the car to the drivers (carrying fresh lychees from the pandemic area) to drive the vehicle directly to the locality. The spraying and disinfection of vehicles transporting agricultural products is carried out scientifically by the unit, both to ensure the prevention and control of Covid-19 and to meet the time requirements of the vehicle owners. In the early days of the season, the amount of lychee exported was still small, about 30-40 tons/day, but by the end of May, it had reached 500-600 tons/day, equivalent to 50-60 trucks. It is expected that in the first half of June, when the main season is in, about 1,000 tons of fresh lychees will be exported to China every day. From May 8 to the end of May 31, nearly 8,000 tons of lychee were exported through Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. II, with a total value of more than 4.5 million USD. There are more than a dozen enterprises inside and outside the province participating in exporting fresh lychees through this border gate.
