Lao Cai: Announcement of the election results of the 16th term of the Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026

On the afternoon of May 27, the Provincial Election Committee held a press conference to provide preliminary information on the election results of the 15th National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies of Lao Cai province, term 2021-2026, Member of Standing Committee of Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Council, Vice Chairman of Provincial Election Commission chaired the press conference.

According to the general assessment, the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in Lao Cai province for the 2021-2026 term was safe and legal. Political security, social order and safety, as well as the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic at voting stations, are all guaranteed.

Lao Cai has a total of 1,138 voting stations, the voter turnout rate reaches 99.98%, the third highest nationwide. In which, 7 districts and cities have 100% of voters participating in the election.

In terms of the results of the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly, 6 out of 10 deputies were elected as National Assembly deputies, indicating that a sufficient number of deputies were elected. Election of deputies to the Provincial People's Council, term XVI, has resulted in 55/92 elected deputies to the Provincial People's Council, with a sufficient number of elected delegates. Election of deputies to the People's Council at the district level has resulted in 298/487 elected delegates to the district People's Council, indicating that there is a sufficient number of elected delegates. Election of delegates to the People's Council at the commune level has resulted in 3,218/5,397 elected delegates to the People's Council at the commune level, three delegates shortage out of the fixed number.

At the press conference, the Election Commission announced the election results and the official list of 55 candidates for the 16th term of the Provincial People's Council, term 2021-2026.

Mr. Vu Van Cai, speaking at the press conference, respectfully acknowledged and appreciated the attention of the press agencies who paid attention to and propagated the province's election work. He stated that the successful election of Lao Cai province deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils for the 2021-2026 term is the result of the efforts of all levels, branches, and localities. The province's people's consensus and the active participation of the press and media agencies propagated and spread information about the election to the entire population. He hoped that the press would continue to spread propaganda about the province's election results, programs, plans, and notable economic and political events.
