Based on the results of the 2019 Population and Housing Census and the growth rate of the ethnic minority population, Lao Cai Provincial Statistics estimates the number of ethnic minorities and the proportion of ethnic minorities compared to the total population in Lao Cai province in 2024 as follows: The average population in 2024 of the whole province is estimated at 1,656,591 people, an increase of 21,142 people, equivalent to an increase of 1.29% compared to 2023, including a male population of 840,238 people, accounting for 50.72%; a female population of 816,353 people, accounting for 49.28%. The population density of the whole province in 2024 is 125 people/km2.
