Inter-sectoral economic and trade conference between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China)

On the morning of November 18th, 2021, the inter-sectoral economic and trade conference between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China) took place online meeting.

Delegates from Lao Cai province (Vietnam) attended in the online conference with Yunnan province (China).

Participating in the conference from Lao Cai province were Mr. Hoang Chi Hien, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Head of the Lao Cai province's interdisciplinary delegation; representatives of a number of departments, branches and localities in the province.

On the side of Yunnan province (China), there were Mr. Phung Chan, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce of Yunnan as the head of the delegation and representatives of related agencies participating in the conference.

At the conference, the two provinces of Lao Cai (Vietnam) and Yunnan (China) jointly evaluated a number of cooperation results in the past time and proposed content to promote economic and trade cooperation in the next time. Continuing to coordinate to create favorable conditions for goods clearance through the international road border gate Kim Thanh, Vietnam and Bac Son, China. Maintaining the efficient operation of the "priority flow" of customs clearance for agricultural products, extending the time for customs clearance through the border gate. Gradually adjusting fees and border payment policies towards creating favorable conditions for businesses, etc. The two sides have effectively coordinated to organize many trade promotion activities such as: Vietnam-China International Trade Fair; Conference on import and export promotion of agricultural products, fruits and aquatic products; Thematic promotion conferences on agricultural products, lychee, dragon fruit, longan, mango, etc. The cooperation of the two sides has promoted economic and trade cooperation, helping import and export turnover to grow strong and stable.

Regarding cooperation in border and border gate management, the two sides effectively implemented border gate management, creating favorable conditions for goods, people and means of entry and exit through the border gate. Regarding border events, the two sides coordinated to investigate and settle them properly at the grassroots level, preventing complicated developments, contributing to building the border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

The two sides have actively coordinated closely in providing information on the pandemic situation and measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 pandemic. Up to now, there have been no cases of disease transmission through border gates of the two sides.

In order to further promote economic and trade cooperation between the two sides, Lao Cai province proposed Yunnan province to adjust policies and create favorable conditions for Vietnam to export fresh fruit products (dragon fruit, mango, jackfruit, watermelon…) through the international road border gate No. II Kim Thanh - Bac Son; continue to develop exit and entry plans for people and vehicles of both sides in accordance with the pandemic situation; promote customs clearance through Lao Cai - Ha Khau railway border gate; continue to extend the clearance time at the international road border gate No. II Kim Thanh - Bac Son; speed up the construction of road bridges across the Red River at Bat Xat (Lao Cai) - Ba Sai (China); open the pair of border gates Ban Vuoc (Lao Cai) - Ba Sai (China) and Muong Khuong (Lao Cai) - Kieu Dau (China)...

At the conference, the two sides agreed on the following contents: support for the expansion of bilateral trade; agree to further strengthen measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the border gate to ensure trade security; jointly promote the establishment of a pair of border markets Kim Thanh, Lao Cai - Bac Son, Ha Khau; promote national-level exchanges to soon sign the Agreement and Protocol on the construction of road bridges on the Red River in the Bat Xat area (Vietnam) - Ba Sai (China); under the conditions of normalization of pandemic prevention and control, jointly research and renew cooperation models, promote economic and trade development.

At the end of the conference, the two sides signed the Memorandum of cooperation on matters which the two sides interested in, discussed, agreed upon, and used as the basis for cooperation in the coming time./.
