Muong Hoa commune recovers the tourism activities

In order to overcome the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, the people of Muong Hoa commune (Sa Pa town) have actively sought new solutions to adapt to the actual situation, gradually recovering the tourism activities.

Developing community tourism in Muong Hoa commune is considered a sustainable direction, bringing socio-economic benefits through creating job, improving income and community living. After a period of being "frozen", tourism activities in the commune have gradually become active again. During the last Lunar New Year, the commune welcomed about 2,400 tourists. Ms. Tan Thi Co's family, Hoa Su Pan 1 village has 13 rooms. During the Lunar New Year, her family's homestay was fully booked. Ms. Co shared: Although the tourists are not as good as before the pandemic, mainly domestic tourists, but we still earn more than ten million dong per month.

Preserving traditional craft professions for tourism development

Mr.Tan A Lenh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Muong Hoa Commune said: The commune currently has 74 accommodation establishments with more than 700 beds, which can serve more than 1,000 guests per night. The average income from tourism is about 50 million VND/facility/month. At this time, although the province has allowed the reopening of tourism activities, there are still many difficulties due to the characteristics of community tourism that often welcome large groups of tourists.

To be ready for welcoming activities and flexibly adapting to new conditions, the People's Committee of Muong Hoa Commune has accelerated the rate of Covid-19 vaccination, prioritizing vaccination for the employees of tourism businesses, direct workers at the establishment, community tourism sites, villages. Up to now, over 95% of community tourism workers have completed vaccination. The commune also develops traditional craft professions such as embroidery, forging, knitting...; Limiting the organization of community festival activities. The people can participate in training courses to improve their professional skills and foreign languages to apply in welcoming and serving tourists. In 2021, the commune organized a cooking class for the people with accommodation facilities in the area. In particular, in 2022, the commune will complete the project of the Community Tourism House - a place to display and sell traditional local products.

In the coming time, along with continuing to effectively carry out pandemic prevention and control work at community tourism sites, the commune will enhance promotion and propaganda of local tourism brands, thereby tourism recovery towards efficient and sustainable direction.
