At the meeting, Comrade Giang Thi Dung gave an overview of the socio-economic development situation; the current state of the health care system and infrastructure; disease control and Lao Cai province's efforts in taking care of people's health… with Mr. Takeshi Kasai and the delegation. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee appreciated the timely and active support from international organizations, including WHO, with many programs and projects that have contributed to improving the quality of people's health care during this last time.

Comrade Giang Thi Dung also mentioned the difficulties of Lao Cai province in taking care of people's health, such as: Many medical facilities have deteriorated in terms of facilities without timely investment, lack of equipment - in healthcare, the procurement process of drugs, supplies and chemicals still faces many difficulties; awareness of people, especially ethnic minorities is still limited; the under-5 child malnutrition rate and under-5 child mortality rate are still high compared to the whole country. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed her wish to continue receiving the attention and funding from WHO, especially the training of medical staff, the implementation of programs and projects to support health care of mothers and children in ethnic minority and disadvantaged areas, especially in reducing maternal mortality and child mortality... in the coming time.
