Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee visited and worked with the Japanese Ambassador

On August 11, in Hanoi, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong led a provincial delegation to visit and work with the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Yamada Takio.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his deep gratitude to Mr. Yamada Takio, Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam, for taking the time to welcome and work with the delegation of Lao Cai province. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the province's policy of always attaching importance to activities to strengthen and expand foreign relations with strategically important international partners.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Japanese Ambassador and Embassy to consider the proposal to organize the 2023 Meeting with Japan Conference with the Northern Midlands and Mountainous provinces in Lao Cai province. The province commits and mobilizes maximum resources to coordinate with the Japanese Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize the Conference.

At the same time, it is proposed that the Embassy support Lao Cai province in contacting Japanese agencies and units to organize a trade, investment and tourism promotion program in Lao Cai; Support connections with leaders of Shizuoka province so that the Lao Cai province delegation can pay a courtesy visit, exchange possibilities for establishing cooperative and friendly relations, and invite leaders of Shizuoka province to visit and survey Lao Cai province.

Lao Cai province wishes to sign a friendly cooperation agreement with Shizuoka province or some other provinces such as Fukuoka Japan; Seek opportunities to establish cooperative and friendly relations with localities to enhance understanding, build trust, move towards signing cooperation and friendship, and expanding foreign affairs.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Trinh Xuan Truong proposed that the Embassy help connect with Japanese agencies, organizations and businesses including: JICA, JETRO, JNTO, Erex Group, Sojitzu Company pay attention and support Lao Cai province in the field of vocational training, improving the quality of the province's human resources such as receiving trainees from Lao Cai province in the field agriculture, agricultural product processing; Support Lao Cai province to open Japanese language teaching classes, sponsor scholarships for officials and civil servants with postgraduate degrees such as masters and doctorates, etc.

The Japanese Ambassador commented that Lao Cai is a province with great potential for cooperation.

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, Mr. Yamada Takio, said that Lao Cai province has great potential in the fields of tourism, agriculture, and renewable energy. Businesses also want to cooperate in investing in the field of renewable energy in Lao Cai province. Regarding the proposal to organize an event in Lao Cai, the Ambassador wanted to know more information about the details and specifics of this event so that he could coordinate its implementation.

The Japanese Embassy is also coordinating with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize a number of events, hoping that Lao Cai will take the time to participate.

Regarding the content of establishing cooperative and friendly relations with Shizuoka province, the Ambassador hoped that Lao Cai would have detailed information for early implementation, contributing to promoting diplomatic relations between the two provinces. Lao Cai province and Shizuoka have something in common: Lao Cai has Fansipan, Shizuoka province has Mount Fuji. However, to promote cooperation, Lao Cai province needs to have a detailed plan to work with Shizuoka Provincial People's Council on specific cooperation between the two provinces.

 The Japanese Ambassador also affirmed that Japan always wants to create opportunities to cooperate with Lao Cai province in the fields of education and sponsoring scholarships in many fields. The Japanese side always welcomes Lao Cai to send a working delegation to Japan.
