National Day September 2: Thinking about the vitality of patriotism
Every year, when the weather turns to autumn, the hearts of every Vietnamese person are filled with emotions about a past of arduous struggle, but also full of national pride. Everywhere in the homeland and on every street, the yellow star flag flutters in the wind, reviving the heroic spirit of 79 years ago.On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh solemnly declared to the world the founding of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era for the nation. Since then, every year, National Day September 2 has become an occasion for the Vietnamese people to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifices and efforts of previous generations.

Looking back, throughout its historical journey, Vietnam has gone through many glorious periods of struggle to protect its sovereignty and national independence. That was the spirit of persistent struggle throughout more than 1,000 years of domination by the Northern feudal dynasties, ending with the glorious victory on the Bach Dang River by Ngo Quyen in 938.
Not only in the military field, but also in the cultural field, against assimilation, so that Vietnam will not be “melted” by the enemy’s evil plot. How proud and honored, above all, Vietnamese culture still shines. “If culture exists, the nation exists”, that is the reason for the nation’s longevity!
History has not forgotten the Dien Hong Conference. That was when the Yuan army invaded our country for the second time, in December 1284, King Tran Nhan Tong held this conference to ask the opinion of the elders of the whole country about whether to fight or make peace. The shout of "fight" from the elders shook the entire Dien Hong Palace, which was the order to gather the heroic spirit of the country to help the king and his subjects of the Tran Dynasty defeat the enemy.

Entering the late 19th and early 20th centuries, history once again continued to test the mettle of the Vietnamese people during more than 100 years of French colonial rule. Along with exploitation and plundering of wealth, the colonialists also implemented a policy of keeping people ignorant, "poisoning" our people with alcohol and opium with the intention of destroying their will to fight in order to maintain the long-term domination. But nothing could "poison" the will and patriotism of the Vietnamese people. From the midst of misery and slavery, the Vietnamese people were always united, bravely fighting, and liberating the nation.

The history of our nation is a history of fighting against invaders. To gain independence and complete freedom, we had to confront powerful powers, but the Vietnamese people always showed their indomitable will and undying patriotism, the whole country went to war.
As President Ho Chi Minh once affirmed: "Our people have a passionate love for the country. That is our precious tradition. From ancient times to the present, every time the Fatherland is invaded, that spirit is stirred up, it forms an extremely strong and huge wave, it overcomes all dangers and difficulties, it drowns all traitors and invaders. History has had many great resistance wars that demonstrate the patriotism of our nation. We have the right to be proud of the glorious pages of history of the Trung sisters, Trieu Thi Ba, Tran Hung Dao, Le Loi, Quang Trung... We must remember the contributions of national heroes, because they are representatives of a heroic nation...".
Nowadays, there are skeptical opinions about the patriotism of the Vietnamese people, especially among the youth. But reality has proven that, in situations that can threaten the Fatherland, the spirit of patriotism surges, uniting into a strong wave of struggle in many suitable forms, both cleverly promoting internal strength and taking advantage of international public opinion.

At the border, soldiers still train every day, improving their combat readiness to protect the Fatherland in all situations.
Especially in the context of international integration, the patriotism of the Vietnamese people is expressed more deeply. Not only being proud of the heroic history of the nation, each Vietnamese citizen also shows patriotism through efforts to build a prosperous, modern country, worthy of its position and role in the international arena, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers, as President Ho Chi Minh always wished.

Living in peace, today's young generation is interested in organizing many activities to pay tribute to previous generations who sacrificed their blood and bones for the Fatherland.
From hard-working farmers in the fields to talented and successful businessmen, patriotism is the driving force that drives them to strive constantly. Millions of young people across the country are striving to train and study every day. They are present in all regions from the highlands, borders to remote islands, some holding guns, some working, producing in factories, workshops or in high-tech fields, contributing to their homeland and country. Vietnamese people at home and abroad all share the same aspiration and goal of contributing to building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. That is the expression of patriotism in the new situation!

In peace, the entire Vietnamese people join hands to build the country to become more and more prosperous.
In all circumstances and historical periods, preserving and promoting patriotism becomes extremely important. This is the solid foundation for Vietnam to continue to rise and affirm its position in the region and on the international stage.
As President Ho Chi Minh said: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". That spirit is always alive, inspiring generations of Vietnamese people today and tomorrow.

Patriotism is one of the precious traditions of the Vietnamese people.
Every National Day, September 2nd, is a reminder and affirmation of the determination to maintain independence, freedom and realize the aspirations of the Vietnamese people.
