On August 28, Bao Thang District People's Committee held a conference to commend and honor advanced models, promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities in 2024.

Bao Thang district currently has more than 46 thousand ethnic minorities from 19 ethnic groups, accounting for more than 41% of the district's population. Ethnic minorities have always been united, striving to compete, effectively implementing policies, programs, and projects of the Party, the State, and Lao Cai province. Currently, the district has 83 prestigious people.

In recent years, prestigious people in the district have actively promoted their roles in various areas of social life. Regarding economic development, prestigious people in the community have contributed their efforts, money, working days, donated land to the locality to build schools, cultural houses, build roads, build new rural areas; boldly exploited the potential and strengths of ethnic minority and mountainous areas, applied science and technology in agriculture, organized production on a larger scale, created products to meet market demands, created jobs for many workers... Many economic models owned by prestigious people have stable incomes from 50 million to hundreds of millions of VND/year.

In the cultural field, prestigious people always set an example and actively mobilize people, educate their children and the community to participate in building a new lifestyle, eliminating bad customs; eating and living hygienically, preserving and promoting the good cultural identity of each ethnic group; building villages and hamlets that are united, peaceful and developed.

Regarding maintaining security and order, prestigious people always play a central role in uniting the community, acting as a bridge between local Party committees and authorities and ethnic minorities, actively propagating and mobilizing people to raise their vigilance, not to believe or listen to heretical religions, strange religions, or bad people's instigation, creating consensus in the community; participating in resolving many complicated cases arising from the grassroots, reconciling conflicts among the people...

Up to now, the economic and social life of the ethnic minority people in the district has had positive changes. From the patriotic emulation movements, there have appeared more and more advanced models in studying, working, laboring, production - business, protecting national security, preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic minorities and having great prestige in the village, hamlet, village and community.
