Approval of the Project for Ecotourism, Resorts and Entertainment in Hoang Lien - Van Ban Nature Reserve

The Provincial People's Committee has just approved the Project on Ecotourism, Resorts and Entertainment in Hoang Lien - Van Ban Nature Reserve, period 2022 - 2030.

The scope of project implementation is on an area of 24,718.23 hectares managed by the Hoang Lien - Van Ban Nature Reserve Management Board. This includes the entire buffer zone of the Nature Reserve, located within 10 communes in Van Ban district: Nam Xe, Nam Xay, Minh Luong, Duong Quy, Tham Duong, Nam Chay, Nam Tha, Khanh Yen Ha, Khanh Yen Trung, and Liem Phu (Van Ban district).

The project aims to develop Hoang Lien - Van Ban Nature Reserve into an attractive, professional, and branded eco-tourism destination. Preserve and sustainably promote the values of natural landscapes, forest resources, biodiversity, and create diverse types and products of eco-tourism, resorts, and entertainment, with unique characteristics of the reserve.

During the 2022–2030 period, the project sets out to achieve the following development targets: attract at least three investors to engage in joint ventures, partnerships, or forest environment leases for ecotourism development; draw a minimum of 10,000 visitors annually (with international tourists accounting for at least 25% and domestic tourists 75%); ensure that over 30% of visitors stay overnight; generate an estimated annual revenue of 10 billion VND from ecotourism activities, including at least 200 million VND from forest environment leases; and create jobs for more than 300 workers, both directly and indirectly.

The project strives to make ecotourism one of the primary sources of income, affirming its role in driving socio-economic development, supporting poverty reduction, generating employment, and fostering the growth of other economic sectors in the local area. By 2030, it aims to establish the Hoang Lien - Van Ban Nature Reserve’s ecotourism brand on both the domestic and international tourism maps, while developing distinctive and competitive ecotourism products and experiences that highlight the reserve’s unique appeal. The goal is to enhance visitor satisfaction, encourage repeat visits, and offer memorable, differentiated experiences.

The project clearly identifies the locations and scale for constructing ecotourism facilities; ecotourism sightseeing spots; ecotourism programs (routes); and tourism sites linked within and beyond the district.

The total investment for the project is estimated at 272.92 billion VND, sourced from the state budget, forest environmental services, socialized capital, invited investments, and other funding sources.

The project also outlines a range of solutions focused on: Protecting the tourism environment, forest development, conservation of nature and biodiversity; mechanisms, policies, and management; raising awareness and developing human resources for tourism; improving tourism infrastructure and technical facilities; tourism investment; promoting tourism linkages; as well as marketing, promotion, and tourism market development, etc.
