Nghia Lo Enhances the Quality of Its Tourism Products.

In recent years, Nghia Lo ward has gradually affirmed its position as an attractive tourist destination in the Northwest region. With the advantage of being located in the heart of the vast Muong Lo plain, along with the distinctive cultural identity of the Thai and Khmu ethnic groups, the locality has been focusing on many solutions to improve the quality of tourism products, meeting the increasingly diverse needs of tourists.

 

Previously, tourism in Nghia Lo was mainly associated with sightseeing and learning about traditional culture. However, to increase its attractiveness and extend the length of stay for tourists, Nghia Lo ward has focused on developing unique experiential tourism products. Visitors can admire the beauty of the Muong Lo rice fields in different seasons, participate in activities such as harvesting rice, weaving brocade, preparing traditional dishes, or learning the Xoe dance with the local people.

Folk art performances, especially the Thai Xoe dance – a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity – are organized more frequently, serving tourists on weekends and festivals. In addition, tourist routes connecting with nearby destinations are being developed, creating a series of attractive experiences.

Based on the potential and strengths of the locality, in recent years, Nghia Lo ward has directed the expansion and diversification of characteristic tourism products suitable to its potential. This includes focusing on developing community tourism with 13 homestay models; the Drygon Nghia Lo resort; maintaining the organization of festivals at the beginning of the year; festivals throughout the year of the Thai and Khmu ethnic groups; and the Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Festival held at the end of September and beginning of October every year. At the same time, there is an entertainment and event area in the Golden Field new urban area; the Muong Lo Market - Zone C, with a scale of 28,000 m², including traditional market areas, night markets, and kiosks to meet the stable business needs of approximately 600 households in the area; and pedestrian streets organized on weekends, etc.

One of the key factors for sustainable tourism development is the quality of accommodation services. Recognizing this, Nghia Lo ward has encouraged and supported residents in developing homestay models that are professional yet retain traditional characteristics.

Currently, many homestays in the area have been upgraded in terms of facilities, ensuring they meet the criteria of "clean, beautiful, safe, and friendly." Homestay owners participate in training courses to improve the quality of their tourism products, creating unique and attractive experiences for tourists.

Drygon Nghia Lo Resort is a high-end resort with approximately 50 rooms, designed in a modern style with 3 main sections to meet the diverse needs of guests.

Ms. Ha Thi Chinh, owner of Cuong Chinh homestay in Deu 2 residential area, said: "My family has been involved in tourism since 2010. Initially, we weren't well-known to many travel companies, tour operators, and tourists. After some research, I upgraded our facilities and created attractive tourism products to give visitors enjoyable and memorable experiences. I proactively linked tourism routes with localities inside and outside the province; and participated in training to improve my family's tourism products."

Many visitors to Nghia Lo have expressed satisfaction with the positive changes in the area. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (Hanoi) said: "I especially enjoyed cultural experiences such as Xoe dance, participating in cultural and artistic activities, and the daily life of the people. The people are very friendly and hospitable, and I will definitely recommend Nghia Lo to my friends."

Foreign tourists visit and experience the local culture at Cuong Chinh Homestay in Deu 2 residential area.

Thanks to improved tourism products, Nghia Lo ward is expected to welcome 110,000 visitors in 2025, generating revenue of 92 billion VND. From the beginning of 2026 until now, the ward has welcomed approximately 51,000 tourists, with revenue reaching around 25 billion VND.

Recognizing tourism as an important economic sector contributing to increased income for local people, Nghia Lo ward has coordinated with relevant agencies to organize training, provide loan support, and promote the image of Nghia Lo through media and social networks.

Mr. Dinh Anh Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Nghia Lo Ward People's Committee, said: The locality focuses on developing distinctive tourism products associated with agriculture and traditional handicrafts in a green and sustainable direction, linked with the preservation of traditional culture; calling on businesses to invest in eco-tourism and high-end resort tourism products, in order to enhance the value and competitiveness of the destination.
