Despite many challenges, such as the Covid-19 epidemic, natural disasters, and drought, the province's socioeconomic development plan has been implemented successfully over the last term. The Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Lao Cai province have closely followed the guidelines and directions of the Central Government, being especially proactive, flexible, and creative in the process of task implementation. The proportion of agriculture and forestry decreased from 15.4 percent to 12.2 percent, while the proportion of industry and construction increased from 42.58 percent to 45.3 percent and services decreased from 42.02 percent to 42.55 percent. The per capita GRDP reached 76.3 million VND, placing it second in the Northern Midlands and Mountains, with a poverty rate of 8.46 percent in 2020. At this meeting, the Provincial People's Council also considered and evaluated the organization and operation of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee for the term 2016-2021; evaluated the work of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee's participation in building local governments for the term 2016-2021; and evaluated the results of the People's Court, the People's Committee, and the People's Court for the term 2016-2021. The Provincial People's Council will discuss, give opinions on, and consider 12 reports from the Provincial People's Committee related to mechanisms and policies for implementation such as: content regulations, level of expenditure, and time to enjoy funding. Support for the election of deputies to the XV National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels in the province of Lao Cai for the term 2021-2026; publication of a list of investment and lending sectors of the Lao Cai Provincial Development Investment Fund for the period 2021-2025; and regulations to reduce the fee for the use of infrastructure works, service facilities, and public utilities in the province. Also at the meeting, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 17 collectives and 8 individuals for outstanding achievements in People's Council activities at all levels in 2020; and certificates of merit to 8 collectives and 38 individuals for outstanding achievements in People's Council activities in Lao Cai province, session XV, term 2016 - 2021./.
