Thai Princess visits and works at Nam Cuong Primary School

On the morning of August 14, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand and the delegation visited and worked at Nam Cuong Primary School, Lao Cai city.

The delegation also included Ms. Kasama Suebwises, Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand; Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam and leaders of a number of relevant agencies.

Welcoming the delegation, Lao Cai province had comrade Trinh Xuan Truong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

At the meeting, the leaders of Nam Cuong Primary School briefly reported on the school's current conditions to participate in the Project "Improving the quality of life for children and youth in the Asia-Pacific region". The report focused on the conditions for developing school agriculture, school health care for students, and student activities when participating in the project.

Also in the report, the school principal requested the Thai Embassy in Hanoi, leaders, departments and branches of the province to issue an official document allowing Nam Cuong Primary School to participate in this project.

In Vietnam, since 2006, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has sponsored a project called “Improving the quality of life for children and adolescents in the Asia-Pacific region” at disadvantaged educational institutions in Northern Vietnam. In addition, the princess is also interested in supporting Vietnamese teachers and educational administrators.

The project is implemented to raise community awareness of their own responsibility for improving the quality of life for their children, ensuring that students develop in a balanced way both physically and mentally; providing a portion of green vegetables and meat, fish, and eggs for students' lunches at school; teaching students skills in vegetable care and poultry farming (chickens, geese, and ducks); teaching them life skills such as self-care, personal hygiene, and keeping the environment green - clean - beautiful.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is the second daughter of King Bhumibol Adulyadej-Rama IX and Queen Sirikit Kityakara. The Princess has spent more than three decades contributing and dedicating to education and development of children and adolescents, especially those in disadvantaged areas of Thailand and many countries around the world.

During her visit to the school, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand presented gifts to the school, including: 5 sets of desktop computers, 1 box of storybooks, 2 bottles of filtered water, 2 boxes of medicine for school health and some stationery for students. The gifts contributed to encouraging and motivating teachers and students before the new school year, and at the same time helped the school continue to improve the quality of teaching and comprehensive education for students.

After the working session, the Princess, the delegation and the leaders of Lao Cai province, leaders of departments and agencies of the province and Lao Cai city visited the school's facilities , attended English teaching activities, observed students practice: washing hands in 6 steps, growing hydroponic vegetables, making biofertilizers, making bean sprouts, embroidering on fabric, making cakes and fruit juices, drawing, reading books in the library.
