Students of Lao Cai High School for the Gifted won Bronze Medal at Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

On the afternoon of May 27, according to the announcement from the Organizing Committee, Nguyen Huy Phong, a student in grade 11 specializing in IT at Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, won a Bronze Medal at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO).

The 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad will take place in Uzbekistan from May 17 to 18. The competition will attract 868 contestants from 41 countries, including 34 countries in the Asia-Pacific region and 7 countries from other continents.

On May 17, in the lineup of 15 contestants of the Vietnamese team, Nguyen Huy Phong attended the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad. With his courage and talent, Nguyen Huy Phong completed the exam with an excellent score of 137.1 points, ranking 5th out of 15 members of the Vietnamese team and 101st out of 868 in the entire competition.

Nguyen Huy Phong won a Bronze Medal at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

Regarding the medals, the Organizing Committee stipulated that each of the 34 countries in the Asia-Pacific region would select the 6 contestants with the highest scores to rank the medals. The Organizing Committee awarded 17 Gold Medals, 51 Silver Medals, and 102 Bronze Medals.

In addition to personal efforts, Nguyen Huy Phong always receives guidance from his homeroom teacher, who is also a teacher for excellent students in Information Technology - Mai Hong Kien.

Nguyen Huy Phong's achievement marks the first time Lao Cai province has had a student win a Bronze Medal at the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad. This is also the first medal at an international cultural competition in the history of Lao Cai province's students, affirming the development of Lao Cai education.
