The Bat Xat - Lao Cai Border Trade Promotion Fair 2026 is currently taking place vibrantly in Bat Xat commune, and is expected by local authorities, businesses, investors, and households to open up opportunities to promote the development of border trade.

The Bat Xat - Lao Cai Border Trade Promotion Fair 2026 opened on the evening of January 24th.

On the evening of January 24th, the Bat Xat - Lao Cai Border Trade Promotion Fair 2026, jointly organized by the Bat Xat Commune People's Committee and Dai Thanh Trade Promotion Co., Ltd., officially opened at the Bat Xat market. It left a strong impression and attracted the attention of investors, businesses, cooperatives, and individual traders due to the opportunity to expand their consumer market and access the vast potential market of Yunnan Province (China).

This fair brings together more than 100 booths from businesses, cooperatives, and individual traders from within and outside the province; showcasing OCOP and VietGAP products, agricultural products, consumer goods, handicrafts with export potential… along with characteristic local trade and tourism services.

Consumers are interested in agricultural products and specialties from Lam Thuong commune.

From Lam Thuong commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Uy Nga - Director of the Yen Bai Ethnic Medicinal Herbs Cooperative - and her colleagues brought more than 20 types of characteristic agricultural products and medicinal herbs to display, promote, introduce, and reach out to customers and visitors at the fair. Bags of Tu Le sticky rice, Seng Cu rice, dried bamboo shoots, vermicelli, dried meat, traditional cakes… as well as fresh oranges and live castrated roosters were all carefully selected by Ms. Nga and the cooperative members for the highest quality to present to customers and partners.

A pair of castrated roosters, a specialty of Lam Thuong commune, were successfully auctioned off for 5 million VND per pair.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Uy Nga shared: "During the first two days of the fair, many customers came to visit, shop, and learn about the agricultural products and specialties of the Yen Bai Ethnic Medicinal Herbs Cooperative. We sold a lot of goods during these two days. In particular, during the agricultural product auction at the opening ceremony, we sold two pairs of castrated roosters, a specialty, at a price of 5 million VND per pair. This shows that many customers are interested and willing to pay high prices for high-quality specialty agricultural products. Through the fair, we have gained more confidence in expanding our production scale and pursuing the development of high-quality agricultural products and medicinal herbs to serve domestic consumption and export needs."

The Bat Xat - Lao Cai Border Trade Promotion Fair 2026 opens up opportunities for connection and cooperation between businesses in Lao Cai and other provinces and cities nationwide with businesses in Yunnan Province (China).

Although businesses from Yunnan Province (China) were unable to prepare goods in time to display and introduce their products at the Bat Xat - Lao Cai Border Trade Promotion Fair in 2026, thanks to the connections of the Lao Cai Provincial Young Entrepreneurs Association, more than 10 businesses from Yunnan Province (China) visited the fair to promote trade, meet with participating businesses, cooperatives, and households to seek opportunities for cooperation, business, and market expansion.

Chinese businesses showcased their goods at the trade fair through partners in Lao Cai province.

Ms. Tran Thuy Nga, General Director of Big Expo Import-Export Joint Stock Company, shared: Although Chinese businesses did not have goods participating, networking and meetings between businesses from both sides still took place within the framework of the fair, opening up many opportunities for cooperation and trade, promoting trade in the Bat Xat border area. In addition, through existing partners in Lao Cai, some Chinese branded products were also promoted and introduced at the fair for Vietnamese consumers to access.

For Bat Xat commune, this is the first time the locality has collaborated with businesses to organize a large-scale trade fair, attracting the attention of the business community, cooperatives, and business households since operating under the two-tiered local government model. Bat Xat commune hopes that this fair will not only be a place to display products, but also a space to connect domestic businesses with the border market, a place to find partners, expand markets, and form value chains from production and processing to consumption and export of goods.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bat Xat commune, affirmed: The fair is a direct, clear, and substantive invitation from Bat Xat commune to the business community and investors with the motto "Bat Xat is ready to become a destination for cooperation and linkage in production - consumption - export in the international economic trade chain." In particular, the fair will be the starting point for new connections, new opportunities, and a new development vision for Bat Xat - a border locality that is not only a destination but also a hub for international economic trade.

With that orientation, Bat Xat commune will continue to focus on investing in and developing socio-economic infrastructure; promoting trade, services, and goods circulation, creating an important foundation for the development of border trade associated with logistics, processing, and export.
