[Photo] The rapeseed flower season heralds the arrival of spring on the summit of Suoi Giang.

In the spring days, when the weather in the highlands is still cool, Suoi Giang (Van Chan commune) bursts into the vibrant yellow of mustard flowers. The mustard flower season in Suoi Giang arrives gently, like the mist on the mountaintops. Amidst the fresh air of the mountains and forests, the slopes of yellow flowers stretch along the hillsides, winding through small paths, embracing the villages… creating a unique and gentle atmosphere of the highlands.

Located at an altitude of over 1,000 meters above sea level, Suoi Giang in spring possesses a very different beauty. Instead of the peach or plum blossoms, it's the soft yellow rapeseed flowers covering the hillsides and along the winding road leading to the village. Against the backdrop of the green mountains and the weathered rocks, the rapeseed flowers stand out as a fresh touch, adding warmth to the highland landscape.

One of the most striking stretches of rapeseed flowers in Suoi Giang is cultivated by Ms. Vang Thi Dua in Giang B village. Since 2023, she has been transforming the sloping land in front of her house to grow rapeseed, creating a strip of flowers approximately 200 meters long along the hillside when in bloom.

Mustard plants are sown in October, and after about 3 to 4 months they will begin to bloom, depending on the weather each year. When the weather is favorable, the flowers last from 1.5 months to almost 2 months, sometimes still bright yellow into January or February.

Up close, rapeseed flowers possess a simple yet delicate beauty. Tiny blossoms cluster together, the stems are slender, reaching a height between knee and hip. When the mountain breeze sweeps through, the entire slope of flowers gently sways like soft waves.

Besides beautifying the villages, the canola flower fields have become a favorite stop for tourists every spring. Many people come to Suoi Giang to immerse themselves in the fresh air of the mountains and forests, leisurely strolling amidst the vibrant yellow blossoms and capturing unique spring moments in the highlands. Against the backdrop of a clear sky, thin mist, and patches of flowers swaying in the wind, each photograph seems to perfectly capture the gentle beauty of Suoi Giang during the flowering season.

Time seemed to slow down. The fragrance of the flowers was subtle, not overpowering, but enough to be felt only when standing very close. In the crisp coolness of the highlands, that golden hue was like a quiet warmth spreading.

The rapeseed flower season in Suoi Giang is not only a beautiful natural spectacle, but also a sign of the changing seasons, of the peaceful rhythm of life in the high mountains. The patches of yellow flowers bloom and fade with the passage of time, but each year they return, bringing with them a familiar feeling: a gentle spring present amidst the high mountain sky.
