Coc Ly Market – a traditional market of the Mong ethnic people in Bao Nhai commune (formerly Coc Ly commune) – is usually held every Tuesday. However, to meet the Tet holiday shopping needs of the local people, today – the 27th day of the 12th lunar month – the market is holding an additional special session. With the traditional Tet holiday approaching, the market is even more crowded and bustling.

People choose to buy bundles of fragrant incense to offer to their ancestors. This is a type of handmade incense, made from natural ingredients, without chemicals, and has a characteristic mild fragrance from the bark and leaves of forest trees.

In order to preserve and promote the cultural value of Coc Ly market, Bao Nhai commune will renovate and upgrade it into a cultural market in the near future, contributing to attracting more domestic and international tourists and opening up opportunities for economic development for the people in the region.
The Coc Ly market on the eve of Tet (Lunar New Year) is not only a place for buying and selling but also a unique cultural space preserving the traditional values of the highland people. The radiant smiles, warm stories, and bustling atmosphere at the market herald a promising new spring arriving in the upstream region of the Chay River.
