The Chairman of the provincial People's Committee meets with the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam

On the afternoon of 30/5, Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Chairman of Lao Cai People's Committee had a meeting with Mr. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam.

 Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his happiness when the Australian Ambassador visited and worked in Lao Cai.  He said that, within the framework of the cooperation and strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia over the past 10 years, Lao Cai province has received very active support of the Australian Government through a number of programs.  , projects such as: "Enhancing the economic position of women through promoting agricultural value chains" in Bac Ha district;  "Investing in sustainable vegetable production and trading" in Sa Pa and Bac Ha districts;  some non-refundable grants related to the field of education and people with disabilities in Lao Cai province ...

 Particularly for the project "Promoting gender equality through improving economic efficiency of agricultural production and tourism development" (GREAT project) funded by the Australian Government to Lao Cai province with the total resources  capital of over VND 300 billion, deployed in 5 districts: Sa Pa, Bac Ha, Bat Xat, Muong Khuong and Van Ban.  With the goal of creating over 2,000 new jobs and increasing income for more than 20,000 households, it is an important resource to realize the goals of gender equality and socio-economic development.

Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee welcomed Mr. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam.

 Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee emphasized two important points of the project.  Firstly, with the design of the project, for the first time, the private sector partners have access to ODA resources on the principle of openness and transparency, together with mobilizing investment resources to implement the project objectives,  help to improve the management capacity, full and sustainable market approach.  Secondly, the Australian Government's ODA fund at the present time is very important in integrating the implementation of socio-economic development goals of Lao Cai province, especially in 5 project districts.  .  Lao Cai commits to the Ambassador that he will direct the Project Management Board and related parties to continue working closely with the Project Management Consultant and donors to implement the project on schedule and quality.  and effective.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam is proud of the support from the Australian Government that is meaningful to Vietnam and Lao Cai province.  In Lao Cai, initial projects have achieved remarkable results.  Lao Cai is a partner that shows trust from the beginning, has a method of implementing innovation and creativity, especially with support for private partners.  In the coming time, the Mission will continue to explore and evaluate more about the effectiveness of the project./.
