From November 2, 2020, the Lao Cai Provincial Public Administration Service Center officially came into operation.
On the evening of November 1, at the Provincial Conference Center, Lao Cai City Party Committee solemnly held the 70th anniversary of establishing the Lao Cai City Party Committee (November 4, 1950 - November 4, 2020).

On November 9, 2020, at the 15th session (the core session), the People's Council of Lao Cai province, term XV, conducted the election for Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee for the term 2016-2021. The session went through a voting process. As a result, Mr. Trinh Xuan Truong was elected to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee with 55/55 votes, reaching 100% of the delegates present. Before that, the session was dismissed from Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee for the term 2016-2021 for Mr. Dang Xuan Phong.

The session went through a voting process. As a result, Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, as the Provincial Party Committee Secretary, was elected to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council with 55/55 votes, achieving 100% of the presenting delegates. Previously, the session held a dismissal from Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Council during the term of 2016-2021 for Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh.
