Publication of district and departmental competitiveness index in 2019

The district and departmental competitiveness index (DDCI) of Lao Cai province in 2019 has just been announced by Department of Planning and Investment.

2019 is the first year in Lao Cai that the DDCI assessment is implemented towards the goal of improving quality of economic management and administration at departmental and district levels. The DDCI index measures the expectations, feelings and assessments of production and business establishments with government agencies, in particular, district, town and city government agencies, industry in economic management and administration.

The DDCI Report is developed based on feedback from 1,400 enterprises, production and business establishments across the province, including two main indicators: DDCI at district level and DDCI of departments, intrustries. A new feature of DDCI index is aimed at raising awareness and concerns on issues such as gender equality, business with women, women entrepreneurs, environmental and ecological issues in development process, social issues, sustainable development, equity, ethnic minorities, and disadvantaged people.

District DDCI report shows that Van Ban district ranked first, in the “Very good” group in terms of economic governance and business environment improvement (91.2 points). Si Ma Cai district with 80.07 points belongs to the group of “Good” ranked second. Districts, towns and cities: Bat Xat, Bac Ha, Muong Khuong, Bao Thang, Lao Cai City, Sa Pa Town belong to the “Fair” group with scores from 79.8 to 75.3. Bao Yen district with a score of 74.8 in the last position of the ranking.

Regarding DDCI at department and industry level, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development ranks first with 83.74 points; Department of Planning and Investment ranked second with 81.12 points; Department of Natural Resources and Environment, Department of Transport - Construction ranked third and fourth; Department of Education and Training, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stand in the last two positions.
