The beautiful land of Sa Pa is home to five ethnic minorities, including Mong, Tay, Giay, Dao and Xa Pho. Each ethnic group has its own beauty in terms of customs, habits, costumes, and spiritual and cultural life, creating the rich beauty of the Sa Pa highlands.

The Mong people have many unique cultural festivals. Each festival is a space to practice and pass on the unique traditional cultural features of the community.

Red Dao women are talented in embroidery, sewing and making brocade. Wherever they go, whatever they do, as long as their hands are free, they can quickly use their needles to embroider brocade motifs and patterns on blue-black indigo-dyed cloth. For the Dao, traditional costumes are important not only in daily life but also in spiritual life. Therefore, wearing traditional costumes on holidays and Tet is indispensable in the Dao community.

In Sa Pa, the Tay people live in some lowland communes, such as Muong Bo, Lien Minh, and Ban Ho. The Tay people have a rich cultural and spiritual life. Xoe dances, Then singing, and Tinh lute melodies have been passed down for thousands of years. Currently, clubs have been established in localities to preserve and promote the traditional culture of the Tay people.

Since ancient times, the Giay people of Sa Pa have had the profession of spinning linen, weaving cloth, and making their own clothes for daily use. The Giay people love colors, so the fabric used to make their shirts is often colorful. The colors combined on the shirts are always harmonious, creating a highlight on the outfit.

Xa Pho women are very good at embroidery. The traditional costumes of the whole family are all handmade by them. Men's costumes are only one color, indigo black, while women's costumes are colorful and patterned.

The Xa Pho people have a custom of sweeping the village during the first days of the new year, to drive away evil spirits and bad luck from their homes and villages.
