Comrade Tran Van Huynh, Chairman of Xuan Thuong Commune People's Committee shared: Sustainable poverty reduction has always been identified as a key task by the Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee of the commune. The local government has focused on leading, directing and mobilizing the active participation of the entire political system, creating a combined strength to implement many appropriate solutions. These solutions are not only synchronous and effective but also closely linked to the new rural construction program. The role of the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations has also been strongly promoted in innovating propaganda methods. In particular, communication work has been closely implemented, focusing on beneficiaries, through introducing typical examples, good initiatives and effective poverty reduction models. This has created a spread throughout society, arousing the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance of the people, helping them to escape poverty.

A notable highlight in Xuan Thuong Commune’s poverty reduction efforts is the establishment of the "Self-Managed Poverty Reduction Groups". This innovative model brings together well-off households, wealthy families, and those who have successfully escaped poverty to support poor and near-poor households, thereby promoting sustainable poverty reduction through community-based cooperation. Poverty alleviation policies and guidelines from central, provincial, and district levels have also been effectively implemented in the commune, ensuring that support reaches the right beneficiaries. Local officials and Party members are assigned to specific areas, where they closely monitor and understand the circumstances of each poor or near-poor household in order to provide tailored and practical support solutions.

The Farmers' Association of Xuan Thuong Commune plays a key role in promoting and mobilizing farmers to actively engage in productive and successful business activities, unite in mutual support, and work toward sustainable poverty reduction and shared prosperity. The Association has closely coordinated with relevant agencies and organizations to provide direct support in areas such as production techniques, seeds, capital, input materials, and production linkages, aiming to improve farmers' incomes. It also encourages its members to focus on agricultural production along the value chain and has implemented various linkage models to help farmers access scientific and technological advancements, promote their products, and expand market access.

Mr. Dang Van Nham, Chairman of the Farmers’ Association of Xuan Thuong Commune, shared: Through emulation movements for productive and successful farming and business, many effective practices have been widely adopted. Numerous economic support activities between well-off households and poor families have also been carried out. He added that the Association has proactively proposed mechanisms and policies to support agricultural production in alignment with agricultural development planning. These activities have created favorable conditions for economic models to grow rapidly, effectively, and sustainably—particularly in promoting the restructuring of crops and livestock in response to climate change. The Association also supports farmers in accessing loans to expand production and improve their livelihoods.

Some households of Xuan Thuong commune have had a new direction in economic development.

Currently, Xuan Thuong Commune has 196 households recognized for their excellence in agricultural production and business. Among them, 3 households have been recognized at the provincial level, 31 at the district level, and 162 at the commune level. A notable example is the family of Mr. Dang Van Son from 6 Vanh Hamlet, who has found success with a bamboo rat farming model. Starting in May 2024 with 25 breeding pairs, his herd has now grown to over 100 heads. He has begun selling bamboo rats for meat at a price of 500,000 VND per head, and breeding rats at 800,000–900,000 VND each. He is currently building additional cages and plans to expand the scale of his operation to over 200 heads. In addition, Mr. Son actively supports other local households interested in this farming model by providing guidance on breeding techniques and cage construction.

Many other typical economic models are also contributing to the effectiveness of poverty reduction work in Xuan Thuong commune, and are living examples for disadvantaged households to learn and follow.

Poverty reduction efforts in Xuan Thuong Commune have been effectively integrated into national target programs and poverty alleviation projects. Key initiatives include livelihood diversification projects, poverty reduction model development, production support, nutrition improvement, vocational education, and sustainable employment promotion. The commune has also placed strong emphasis on communication and information-based poverty reduction, encouraging local people to tap into their agricultural potential by adopting high-yield crop varieties and applying scientific and technical advances in production.

Popular crop varieties such as BC15, TBR225, and Nhi Uu 838 rice; B06 and Bioseed maize; along with various other crops like lemongrass, tea, banana, and mulberry have been widely introduced, helping farmers increase and stabilize their incomes. These efforts have not only improved the local economy but also enhanced people's awareness and production knowledge, laying a solid foundation for sustainable development.

Achieving better living standards have helped many households in Xuan Thuong commune build new houses.

With the strong participation of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, poverty reduction in Xuan Thuong commune has become a vibrant emulation movement and achieved many important results. The poverty rate has decreased sharply, and people's lives have been improved comprehensively, which contributes to the building of an increasingly developed society. These efforts not only help reduce poverty but also affirm the leadership role of the local Party Committee and government in building a united and strong community.
