Sa Pa Youth Start Businesses Leveraging Local Agricultural Advantages
Taking advantage of the unique climate and soil characteristics of the locality, many young people in Sa Pa ward are boldly developing suitable economic models, gradually increasing their income and creating jobs for local workers.
In accompanying young people in establishing themselves and their careers, the Sa Pa Ward Youth Union has focused on supporting members in accessing preferential loan sources, participating in training, transferring science and technology, and organizing visits and learning activities about effective economic models. As a result, many members have boldly invested in production development, gradually building economic models suitable to the practical conditions of the locality.

Taking advantage of the local climate and soil, Mr. Hang A Giang boldly developed a model for growing orchids, artichokes, and off-season vegetables.
A typical example is Mr. Hang A Giang, from Ham Rong 3 residential area. In 2021, after many years working away from home, he returned to his hometown with the desire to start a business and develop the economy on his own land. However, when he started, he faced many difficulties, the biggest of which was a lack of investment capital and production experience.
With preferential loans through the Sa Pa Ward Youth Union, along with participating in training courses, visits, and learning from experience, Mr. Giang gradually defined a suitable direction.
Recognizing that the cool climate and unique soil of Sa Pa are favorable for high-value crops, he chose to develop a model for growing orchids, artichokes, and off-season vegetables.

The Youth Union of Sa Pa ward actively supports its members in developing their economy.
After more than 3 years of implementation, his family's model has expanded to approximately 700 orchid plants, over 1,000 m² of artichokes, and about 3,000 m² of off-season vegetables. The crops are growing steadily, gradually bringing a sustainable income to the family. Currently, his family's model generates an income of about 200-300 million VND per year, while also creating regular and seasonal jobs for 5-10 local laborers.
Mr. Hang A Giang said: "In the beginning, it was stressful because the investment was high and I didn't have much experience. There were times when the plants didn't grow as expected, and the market was uncertain, so I was worried. However, with the spirit of youth, I tried to learn as I went along. After a few years of perseverance, the model gradually became more stable, the crops were suitable for the climate, so the efficiency gradually improved.
Along with Mr. Hang A Giang's model, Mr. Nguyen Van Quang in O Quy Ho 1 residential area is also a typical member of the Youth Union in local economic development. Starting his business in 2023, Mr. Quang chose to develop crops suitable for the climate and soil conditions of Sa Pa, such as chili peppers, tomatoes, winter squash, chayote, etc., on an area of about 2 hectares.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quang proactively applies science and technology to production.
Starting from small-scale production, Mr. Quang's model development faced many difficulties, especially in terms of investment capital and production experience. However, instead of maintaining traditional farming methods, he proactively researched market demand, selected suitable crops, and gradually applied science and technology to production to improve productivity, product quality, and economic efficiency on the same cultivated land area.
Until now, Mr. Quang's production model generates an income of approximately 800 million to 1 billion VND per year, while also creating stable jobs for about 5 local workers. The cultivated area is planned according to specific zones, suitable for the growth characteristics of each crop. Care and pest control are also proactively implemented, contributing to improved productivity and product quality.

Mr. Quang's economic model is developing steadily and yielding high economic efficiency.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quang shared: "During the production process, I proactively sought out more about farming techniques, learned online, participated in training courses, and gradually applied them to my family's model. In addition, Sa Pa has great advantages in climate and soil, so with a willingness to learn and boldly innovate production thinking, it is entirely possible to develop the local economy."
In reality, the economic models of young people in Sa Pa ward show that many members have boldly shifted their production mindset, proactively exploiting the advantages of climate and soil to develop the economy towards a commodity-based approach. These models not only provide stable income for families but also contribute to creating jobs for local laborers.
The economic model of young people in Sa Pa ward contributes to creating jobs for local laborers.
Mr. Thao Xuan Nguyen - Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Sa Pa ward, said: In recent times, the movement "Accompanying young people in establishing themselves and their careers" in the ward has seen many positive changes. Many young people no longer have the mindset of waiting and depending, but proactively learn, apply science and technology, and find ways to develop the economy right in their hometown.
To support union members and create motivation for young people in the area to boldly start businesses and develop the economy, the Youth Union has focused on implementing many practical activities such as supporting access to preferential loan capital, transferring science and technology, organizing programs to visit, learn and exchange experiences from effective economic models.
In the coming period, the Sa Pa Ward Youth Union will continue to accompany young people in economic development; focusing on supporting the construction of production models suitable to local advantages; and at the same time strengthening guidance and support for union members in applying science and technology to production, gradually improving economic efficiency.
