"The shared home" of those involved in green tourism
Over the past period, the Bac Ha Tourism Club has become a "shared home" connecting local tourism professionals, where members share experiences, support each other, and spread the spirit of green tourism development. From garbage collection and landscape improvement to donating bamboo carriers and training in customer service skills... all bear the mark of a close-knit community, rich in responsibility and love for their homeland.
Those involved in green tourism participate in training.
Among those contributing to this positive spread, Ms. Cao Huong, owner of La Beaute Bac Ha, stands out. Not only does she run a professional and eco-friendly homestay business, but she also proactively collaborates with organizations and projects to organize training courses on hospitality skills and introducing local products to the community. These courses help residents master how to welcome tourists, prepare accommodation, and practice basic communication skills, as well as preserve their cultural identity while providing services. Thanks to Ms. Huong's support, many households new to community tourism have become more confident, improved their service quality, and increased their income.
Ms. Huong shared: "The spirit of companionship and mutual support not only helps tourism-related households develop together, but also creates a civilized, professional, and distinctive tourism ecosystem in Bac Ha."
Along with Ms. Huong, Mr. Huy Trung, the head of the Bac Ha Tourism Club, is also a pioneer in spreading a green lifestyle to the community. Since 2017, after the traditional horse racing festival ended, garbage was overflowing around the stadium. Mr. Trung proactively called on club members, connected with Bac Ha No. 1 High School, youth union members, and local people to participate in garbage collection. Since then, this activity has become a regular practice, maintained 2-3 times a year, especially before and after major festivals.
In addition, Mr. Trung also used his personal funds to buy bamboo baby carriers from artisans and donate them to the people, thereby encouraging the preservation of traditional crafts and reducing the use of plastic baby carriers. To date, he has donated more than 80 bamboo baby carriers – a small number but one with profound significance in preserving culture and reducing plastic waste in the community.
The green tourism model is not only popular among key members in Bac Ha commune, but it has also spread strongly to tourism communities in other communes in the former Bac Ha district. A prime example is Mr. Vang A Binh in Ban Lien commune, whose community tourism business has been highly praised by many domestic and international tourists.
Mr. Binh shared: “What tourists appreciate most about Ban Lien is the sincerity and hospitality of the Tay people. We clean the village roads, keep the area around the stilt houses clean, and always try to introduce our culture in the kindest way possible.”

Vang A Binh joined tourists in experiencing and exploring local ecotourism activities.
Mr. Binh also said that since joining the Bac Ha Tourism Club, he has had the opportunity to share tourists with other households, exchange experiences in traditional cuisine, methods of processing and preserving smoked tea; operate homestays and create more experiential activities, such as tea picking, fishing, rice planting... For him, doing tourism is about working together; when each household becomes stronger, the whole community can develop sustainably.
In Ban Lien, that spirit of solidarity has formed a friendly and hospitable community tourism group. The image of the Tay ethnic people with their gentle smiles and fragrant tea has become a beautiful feature that makes many tourists return.

The people working in tourism in Ban Lien welcome visitors with friendly smiles.
The Bac Ha Tourism Club, with nearly 50 members, each plays a different role but shares a common ideal: building a green, beautiful, and civilized tourism environment. During holidays, Tet (Lunar New Year), or peak tourist seasons, members regularly exchange information, support new households, share services, and work together to handle any arising situations. These activities have contributed to shaping a genuine, humane, and sustainable image of Bac Ha tourism, focusing on the quality of the visitor experience rather than quantity.

Mr. Huy Trung bought bamboo baby carriers to donate to the local people.

The Bac Ha Tourism Club, in collaboration with students and local people, collected trash after the horse racing festival.
For a greener Bac Ha and a sustainable tourism community, the Club members hope to continue to collaborate, listen, and receive support in building new destinations, improving the environment, and enhancing service quality. They believe that, with the whole community working together, Bac Ha will not only be the "White Plateau" but also a destination of kindness, responsibility, and enduring cultural values.
