Tham Duong (Van Ban): Exciting festival "New flavor of Com "

On October 26, in Tham Duong commune, Van Ban district has held the festival "New flavor of Com" from OCOP sticky rice product "Khau Tan Don".

Attending the festival, visitors can experience the highland cultural space imbued with the national identity of Van Ban district; enjoy the cultural and folk dance performances of Thai, Tay, and Dao people here. In particular, coming to the Festival, visitors will be immersed in the exciting atmosphere of the nuggets-crushing contest with teams from the villages and enjoy the fragrant sticky rice grains made from sticky rice." One of the activities that attracts tourists and is the focal point of the festival is the nuggets making contest between 3 teams from the hamlets and villages of Tham Duong commune. Within 30 minutes, the teams competed in making nuggets through the stages from threshing, pounding the rice until it was made into fragrant, flexible nuggets.

Making nuggets is a long-standing custom of ethnic Tham Duong. Every year in the ninth lunar month, during the harvest season of "Khau Tan Don" sticky rice, people choose the rice flowers that still have milk to make nuggets to celebrate new rice, make offerings to their ancestors, and pray for a good and bountiful harvest.

This is the first time the festival has been organized to preserve and promote the good cultural identity of the People's labor and production, and at the same time promote and introduce nuggets - OCOP product "Khau Tan Welcome" Tham Duong's to People and tourists.
