Well-known as the "golden green warehouse" by the Chay river, Coc Ly commune (Bac Ha) currently owns the largest population of gnat wood and natural mussel wood in the province with “elderly” gnat wood of thousands of years old

Along with the functional forces, for generations, local people have participated in protecting the forests of their homeland. One of the religious activities that people perform every year is to hold the ceremony to worship the forests to pray for favorable weather, good luck and peace. On June 7 (ie the 9th day of the 5th lunar month), the people of Coc Sam village held a forest worshiping ceremony. This is also an opportunity to propagate for the people to raise a sense of protecting green forests.

Choosing good day, the "sons of the mountains and forests" make offerings to the mountain and forest gods.
Ceremony items are prepared in the forests.
Also according to folk beliefs, paper money sent to the gods must be folded into simulated objects such as gold bars, silver bars, boats (with the image of boats conveying the meaning as a means of transporting the gods to the heaven and bring peace and luck to people).
 In the vows and in the mind of each people is the sincere wish to keep the forest and keep a peaceful life in the great mountains.
The temple to worship the forest god was built by the people next to the 1,000-year-old "elderly gnat wood" number 1 according to the numbering table of the gnat trees managed by the forest ranger force.
After the sacred ceremony at the shrine to worship the forest god, the village's forest protection team and forest ranger force patrol and protect the forests. .
Officers of Coc Ly Forest Protection Station propagate to the people the benefits from the forests and the responsibility to protect and preserve the forests.
Being preserved, for thousands of years, the natural forest populations in Coc Ly have always been green and growing.
