Discover the "Trang Quynh vegetable" growing area in Sa Pa

Stone sprouts are a famous vegetable that is thought to only exist in the story of Trang Quynh, but for nearly 10 years now, Sa Pa farmers have successfully grown a vegetable called stone sprouts. It is currently the harvest season for "Trang Quynh vegetables", the atmosphere is bustling throughout the stone sprout fields. The young, green vegetable sprouts not only serve the tourism market but also spread everywhere, bringing high economic value to growers.

Sa Pa rock sprouts are grown mainly in O Quy Ho ward, Ham Rong ward, Ta Phin commune.

Rock sprouts belong to the brassica family, are suitable for cold climates, and can even grow well in harsh weather conditions. The rock sprout harvest season lasts from November to March of the lunar calendar.

When ready to harvest, the rock sprouts have many small, green branches that grow densely around the base, forming a sharp pyramid shape. Most of them are edible.

After cutting the stone sprouts, people remove the outer leaves, leaving the young shoots, placing them in plastic crates and preparing to transport them to the gathering place to wait for traders to come and buy them.

Stone sprouts are very productive and have a stable price, each kg is sold for about 20,000 Vietnamese dong. This is also a type of vegetable that is popular in the market. Each hectare of vegetables can bring in a revenue of several hundred million Vietnamese dong per crop. Therefore, this is the type of vegetable that Sa Pa farmers prioritize growing in the winter, currently Sa Pa town has more than 20 hectares of vegetables.
