With diligence in every needle line, Ms. Dao Thi Xuan has introduced to us the unique materials, patterns and features of the Xa Pho's costumes. She said: According to tradition, Xa Pho's daughter, aged 13-14, was taught by her mother, instructed by her mother, to teach embroidery. Over time, when the needle line and stitches are proficient, they also begin their journey to embroider and make their traditional costumes.

Xa Pho women's traditional attire includes headscarves, tops and skirts. Head towels are decorated with square patterns, canals, small triangles and can be attached with multicolored tassel. Next is the eye-catching decorated short shirt, creating a highlight in the overall outfit of Xa Pho women. From skillful hands, people embroider the indigo fabric with unique, colorful patterns and alternating beads in the front. The sleeves are also embroidered with a pattern to add softness. The skirt is made with small waistband, the body is decorated with motifs along the length of the skirt with patterns such as rhombus, triangles, serrated ... Due to handcrafting, making a traditional costume takes a year for Xa Pho women to complete.

Ms. Xuan confided: Now, when life has many changes, the young generation gradually gets caught up in the new rhythm of life but forgets the traditional culture of their people, including the costumes of Xa Pho women.

From worrying about this unique cultural disappearance over time, Xuan and the women in the village are still diligent, spending a lot of time and effort in teaching embroidery to the children in the family and the young. .

In 2014, the decorative pattern on the costumes of the Xa Pho people was named among the four categories recognized as the national intangible heritage of Lao Cai province.
