[Photo] Project 8 contributes to "unleashing" Ha Nhi women

The Ha Nhi ethnic group lives in some highland and border communes of Bat Xat district. Since ancient times, Ha Nhi women have had to endure many backward customs like "binding ropes" that made life very difficult. In recent years, when many programs and projects have been implemented, especially Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent problems for women and children" with many activities to help Ha Nhi women get rid of bad customs, life is happier.

The Ha Nhi ethnic group lives in some highland and border communes of Bat Xat district. Since ancient times, Ha Nhi women have suffered a lot due to the influence of bad customs. Most Ha Nhi women have had to do hard labor since childhood, have not been able to go to school, have to get married early, and have not been able to participate in social activities.

Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent problems for women and children" with many implemented activities attracted the participation of many Ha Nhi women.

The Women's Union of communes with Ha Nhi people living such as Y Ty, A Lu, Nam Pung, A Mu Sung established community communication groups, actively organized propaganda, changed the awareness of Ha Nhi women about gender equality, starting with elderly women, women with families, then children and female students.

Highland communes open many literacy classes for ethnic minorities, creating opportunities for illiterate Ha Nhi women to go to school and learn to read and write.

Not only being able to go to school, many Ha Nhi women have changed their thinking and perception when they have access to modern information technology.

Ha Nhi ethnic women in the border commune of Y Ty rarely participated in social work in the past, but now they participate in many important works of the commune, village and hamlet where they live, contributing to building their homeland.

In the highlands of Bat Xat district, more and more Ha Nhi women are overcoming bad customs, studying at university and college, then participating in social work with jobs such as commune officials, civil servants, and teachers.

Ha Nhi women also participate in vocational training classes, becoming owners of effective economic development models such as: opening homestays to welcome tourists, growing temperate fruit trees, raising livestock... bringing a more prosperous life.

The activities of Project 8 and national target programs have helped Ha Nhi women to be "untied" from backward customs, stay away from early marriage and incestuous marriage, reduce hard labor, have a better material and spiritual life, and become increasingly prosperous and happy.
