Towards the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has organized many practical activities to promote and spread historical values and arouse national pride among civil servants, public employees, workers and people in the province.
During 2 days (April 25-26), at Pha Long Primary School, Muong Khuong District, the 2025 Border Communes Mass Arts Festival with the theme "The Border is Homeland" took place enthusiastically, attracting the participation of hundreds of actors from border communes.
On the afternoon of April 23, at the Muong Khuong District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities, the Provincial Library coordinated with the Center for Culture, Sports and Communication, the District Youth Union and the Muong Khuong District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities to organize the Book and Reading Culture Festival in the system of libraries and cultural houses in Lao Cai province in 2025, with the theme "Reading culture – Community connecting".
In recent years, Bat Xat District Boarding Secondary and High School for Ethnic Minorities has implemented many extracurricular activities and established a hand embroidery club to attract students to participate. Thereby, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of ethnic groups in the district.
On the morning of April 21, Lao Cai Provincial Library coordinated with Lao Cai City High School No. 3 to organize a Media Festival on the Internet, Digital Transformation, STEM and Reading Culture Development in 2025 with the theme: "Internet opens the way - Reading Culture Leads the Way". The activity was organized to effectively implement the Plan on Breakthrough Development of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation in Lao Cai Province.
On April 18, the Lao Cai Provincial Museum collaborated with Nam Cuong Secondary School in Lao Cai City to organize a program to experience the customs and practices of Lao Cai ethnic groups under the theme "Proud of tradition – targeting the future" and an exchange to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
On the afternoon of April 13, the Department of Education and Training held the summary of the first "Artistic Talent - Lao Cai Province Students" contest, 2025.
Recognizing the pivotal role of culture in the province’s development, Lao Cai has consistently implemented the core principles of the Outline of Vietnamese Culture, the ideology of President Ho Chi Minh, and the Party’s guidelines on culture, especially the views of the 13th National Party Congress on building and promoting Vietnamese cultural values and human strength. The province has introduced many innovative approaches and achieved remarkable outcomes in the development of Lào Cai’s culture and people, progressively realizing its aspiration to become a developed province within the country.
With consistent policies and strong determination, Lao Cai province has achieved encouraging results in literacy eradication efforts in recent years, contributing to raising public intellectual standards and building a solid, comprehensive learning society.
Lao Cai currently has 03 intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO. In the effort of implementing the cultural diplomacy strategy, Lao Cai province has been strengthening measures to effectively protect and disseminate cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO.
